Guided activities unlock a whole new way to experience the NROC.

Exploring the Reserve is always a treat, but guided activities take that exploration to another level. With volunteer naturalists and local experts leading the way, you’ll see every wildflower, hear every birdsong, and understand each ridge line in a totally different way. You’ll also gain access to areas of the Reserve typically dedicated only to wildlife.

Learn trail tips on a hike to Limestone Canyon, or enjoy a yoga practice in the woodlands of Buck Gully Reserve. Kids will love the nature crafts and little-leg-friendly walks, and experienced cyclists can join night rides through Red Rock Wilderness in the Irvine Ranch Open Space. Uncover the importance of coastal sage scrub, find out which gorgeous wildflowers are native and which are overbearing newcomers, and spot wildlife you might otherwise miss.

Whether it’s a family-friendly hike at Crystal Cove State Park, a twilight walk through Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, or bird-spotting at Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, you’ll come away with a deeper connection to Orange County’s wild side—and a new appreciation for the NROC.
